When Paula Shochet began offering art classes out of a small studio in 2020, it wasn't a business plan. What began as a personal passion project during a period of personal struggle has, five years later, blossomed into Paula's Art Studio and Gallery.
Tucked in the small city of Trenton, Miss Paula's weekly classes have become a staple for families, particularly for homeschooling households seeking enrichment. But beyond paint brushes and canvases, the studio has evolved into something deeper: a nurturing space where personal development and artistic exploration walk hand-in-hand. "I love teaching," she says. "At first, I didn't really know what I was doing. I learned as I went along. But what I did know was how much I cared about helping people grow through creativity, kids especially."

Teaching art to children has become one of Paula's most enriching experiences, especially when working with those who have learning disabilities. She finds it genuinely magical to witness the joy in their eyes as they see their creations come to life. A significant turning point in her journey occurred when her son Benjamin was diagnosed with ADHD. To support him, Paula began integrating art into his study sessions, transforming learning into a fun and creative outlet. Together, they would read books and then paint their favorite scenes, fostering both understanding and self-expression.
Paula is an accomplished artist and a dedicated mother whose journey in the world of art is deeply intertwined with her life experiences, particularly her role as a parent. Her passion for art ignited during her studies in Europe, where she immersed herself in various styles and techniques, ultimately discovering her love for acrylic painting.
After taking time off to raise her two wonderful children, Madison and Benjamin, Paula’s desire to create never diminished. Five years ago, she realized her dream by opening Paula's Art Studio and Gallery, which allowed her to reconnect with her artistic roots while sharing her passion with others.
Through her teaching, Paula aims to instill patience, confidence, and creativity in her students. Her approach involves step-by-step tutorials that empower each child to explore their artistic abilities and realize that they can achieve the seemingly impossible. She believes that every child has a unique story to tell, and art serves as a powerful medium for self-expression.
At Paula's Art Studio, creativity, curiosity, and the joy of learning are celebrated. Paula invites parents and individuals alike to join her on this artistic journey, fostering a nurturing environment where everyone can explore their creativity and create something beautiful together.
